The Square Affair, a vintage day at the races

For the past three years, Palmy has hosted a vintage 50's and 60's festival. There are various events around town and a big, red, double decker bus to carry folks from one venue to another. This year, they hosted a vintage fashion show and high tea at the Awapuni Racetrack. So I gathered some friends together and we all dolled ourselves up in festive attire for the occasion.

The first thing that we encountered upon entry to the grounds was a vintage car show. **sigh** so lovely.

The man that owned this car encouraged us to pile in and have our picture taken.

They were encouraging people that had dressed up for the occasion to sign up to be in an amateur fashion show. They promised bountiful prizes and so we all signed up. On the form with our information, they wanted a description of our outfits. I wrote up some campy description of mine and suddenly I was writing blurbs for the whole crew.
Becca waiting to compete in her category, "ready to wear".
"Nikki is wearing a vintage inspired, cotton dress with modern accents for a modern girl"
"Hailey is wearing a black and gold dress with a sophisticated flair, accented by a handmade top hat headpiece and vintage inspired shoes for a bit of fun"
"Becca is wearing a fun and flirty, colorful,  polka dotted dress with green tulle underlay. An understated yet high heel keeps the focus on the dress....and those gorgeous legs."

Javier competing for best dressed man (I didn't write his blurb).

"Abby is wearing a vintage inspired, cotton, leopard print dress. with black strappy heels. A gardenia hair accent, vintage Gucci purse and vintage camera complete the look."
Waiting to take a spin on the catwalk
In the end, none of us won but we had a fantastic day full of fashion, champagne, sunshine and horse racing. One to remember.
